c) Adelaide area
2nd April to 7th April 2011
Saturday 2nd April
Travelled on the horse- drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island
While on the island we had a coffee and nearby spotted a seal on the rocks.
A live one and a sculpted one
Sunday 3rd April
Victor Harbour to Glenelg
We had planned to take a trip on the Cockle Train before leaving Victor Harbour. Unfortunately the train was being hauled by a diesel engine not a steam engine so we decide not to go - a diesel isn't as exciting as as steam.
Left Victor Harbour, travelled across the hills to the Gulf of St Vincent coast, stopping
for morning tea at Moana where we walked on the beach,
then at Brighton where we walked along the pier.
When we arrived at Glenelg we had our picnic lunch then found our hotel and managed to book in early. We are on the 10th floor and have extensive views from the ocean across the Adelaide Hills.
Late in the afternoon we walked down to the beach and along the jetty before we bought noodle boxes for dinner.
Monday 4th April
Took the tram into Adelaide this morning just for the ride.
We are on the 10th floor of the hotel and have a wonderful view.
Glenelg from the pier
This afternoon we sat and watched the sunset over the Gulf of St Vincent
Tuesday 5th April
Glenelg to Adelaide CBD
Left Glenelg and arrived in Adelaide about midday. We parked the car near the Adelaide Oval and walked along the river
We are staying at the Stamford Plaza and have a room on the 16th floor overlooking Parliament house and the parklands.
We walked the block to Rundle Mall to go window shopping in the afternoon.
For dinnerwe used our Scoopon voucher at the Bull and Bear - a good meal for $39 (including bread and a main and a$40 bar tab).
Wednesday 6th April
A lazy day. Walked to Rundle Mall to the PO and to look around the shops.
In Rundle Mall there is a herd of brass pig statues. Here are the then (2003) and now photos - which is which?
Kevin went out walking before lunch and found a little cafe where we had lunch.
Thursday 7th April
This is the view from our room in the Stamford.
After a late check out we went walking along the river and came across this piano asking to be played.
We left the hotel car park about 2:30 and head to the Adelaide Terminal in Keswick.
