Melbourne Cup Cruise

Melbourne Cup Cruise

Sydney to Melbourne

Sunday 4th November Depart Sydney

Ordered station wagon Taxi for 11:45, arrived a little late but was a wheelchair taxi so plenty of room for three large bags, wheelchair and walker. $55 to Circular Quay (better than the $100 it cost to get home from our last cruise as wheelchair Taxis now charge Maxicab rates (+50%) if the person does not ride in the wheelchair).

Comparison of the three ships we have recently travelled on.
Very quick boarding but rooms are not accessible until 1:30pm so
had
to go and have some lunch.
In reverse gear as we depart Circular Quay wharf.
Great room with obstructed view balcony, more pictures to come
Abandon ship drill was a shortest formality we have experienced with no practice at putting on the life jacket. When we got back to our room we needed to pose with the life jackets around our necks for our traditional shot.
Not a great shot but we have a lovely window table of 8 looking out the back of the ship.
Food OK but not up to Princess standards, Anne's Caesar Salad was lettuce and sauce and Kevin's beans and carrots were cold
First impressions of the ship are very positive, easy access with the wheelchair, our cabin steward seems very obliging but they only service room once a day (twice with Princess) and no chocolates on the pillow at night. Will kevin survive 6 days without a chocolate???

Monday 5th November At Sea

Excellent breakfast very easy to get to, just downstairs in the lift.
Disappointing to go to the Fascinator creation signup to find it was already full even though we were there before the scheduled signup time.
Not a great day weather wise but we are heading to Melbourne.
Oopposite is the obstructed view from our balcony in pamarama, railing is actually straight.
Ship pictures
Ice Carving demonstration
Not healthy lunch Kevin, but the passengers behind enjoyed being in the picture.
Our dinner table with our rear view window seat
New experience for us but told normal for Carnival Cruises, halfway through dinner the MaƮtre D' asked for everyone to get up and dance near their table and many did.
Showtime, surprised that the theatre never filled up.
