Tauranga (Actually Mount Maunganui)

Panorama view from our balcony as we are dockside today.

Meandered into town about 10am, (yellow line) no queues, just a straight walk off the ship and into town.

Home again around 12:30pm for an afternoon of rest, hard work for Anne and her joystick.

While Anne had her afternoon rest, Kevin went searching for a Supermarket to buy Green Tea for Anne, he had given up begging for green tea and being told multiple times that this tea bag was last on board.

Casino empty during port, shown here is just a small part of the Casino. (actually closed, the only time you will see it empty),

Compulsory wash station before Windjammers Buffet entrance                       Kevin on Deck 14

Kevin lasted 5 minutes with this pathetic comedian

This afternoon, Kevin had made a booking for the iFly, this is included in our cruise fare and Kevin took the opportunity to try it.

iFly

Take off

Upside down not planned, called doing a turtle I was told a level two skill level move

Anne’s transport up and down from iFly, lifting equipment not well maintained, ended up walking one set of stairs.

Afternoon investigation of Two70 in preparation for tomorrows Christmas Choir.

We are having an unusual problem at dinner, extra meals just arrive for us “to try” For example tonight, Anne ordered a Pork Chop and Kevin, Fish and chips. Delivered was what we ordered PLUS a full chicken dish. For desert I ordered a Tiramisu and Anne had suggested, a Pavlova with Strawberries, what arrived was two pavlovas with strawberries, plus two sides of Raspberries and Strawberries and my Tiramisu. Too much food!!!

Kevin went to see the Hypnotist’s show tonight, reasonable

Towel Art, we think a rabbit.

At Sea   Christmas Eve Top of page

Rock Climbing

Flow Rider

Sea Plex

Later breakfast this morning, again as expected, ordered omelette and bacon, served omelette, bacon, hash brown and tomato. They must have too much food onboard or they think quantity is more important than quality.

Today’s Sunset

Interdenominational service taken by a Catholic priest, Anne did a reading. Disappointed at the size of the congregation.

This is what you can expect to look like if you eat all the food you did not order.

Men’s Shed 2018 project.

We had afternoon tea today with a gentleman who suffered major stroke 18 months ago and his wife. We shared many stories about support and recovery options.

After dinner we had a booking for the multimedia show called Pixels at the back of the ship in the transformed Two70 theatre (Cafe).

The only way to get a decent coffee and any Green Tea is to buy it ashore.

Cafe Two70 daytime above and as Pixel Show at night below.

Slide shows will be slow to load on slow Internet connection

Great show, dancers, singers and six robotically controlled screens.

Next 10:30pm Carols in the Royal Esplanade

Very crowded but lovely singing. Anne had front row seat just below the singers.

Day 9 Monday 25thDecember 2017

Port Chalmers   Christmas DayTop of page

Decided to try out the more upmarket buffet down where we have dinner, here you get what you want portion wise but Kevin did ask for some English bacon and the picture opposite show how much was left after we both had our fill of bacon.

Next the 9:00am Interdenominational service below, disappointing crowd of about 50 people compared to 2014 Diamond Princess Christmas Cruise with half the total number of passengers but many more attending on the right.

One of the reasons for the small crowd was that Santa arrived at 9am to distribute a present to each of the 1,200 kids on board

Line shows queue of kids waiting to sit on Santa’s lap and get a present (Drink bottle)

Kevin went ashore for a walk up the hill opposite

Coincidentally, the Diamond Princess is berthed next to us today

Diamond Princess in the background

Somebody bent our ship??

Was shown the trick with interactive butterfly art, press top right, top left, bottom left and then bottom right to get all butterflies flying at once.

Train back and bagpipes playing so time to leave.

Anne Fork Exercise

Gluten free Christmas Pudding

Kevin went and had a look at the show but did not stay long
