Again no sunset last night and therefore no sunrise this morning.
A typical sea day, cards, no Pop Choir but Anne went to a”Sale” and came away with some new tops
Formal tonight and show called Bubbles. Kevin was fascinated with what he did with bubbles and Anne wanted to leave after a couple of minutes.
Day 60 Tuesday 18th July 2017 Akureyri, IcelandTop of page
Formal with Ross and Helen
Forecast partly cloudy and 9 to 15 deg C, so only a cold winter's day in Sydney.
Back to having a sunrise but I missed it at 3:04am and sure not to see sunset at 11:25pm.
Two pictures from Internet as we are not allowed to take pictures of shows.
First an early morning (8:30-9:30) walk into town about 800 metres away and back before the clouds blew in with a couple of showers.
Never finish painting, here the crew are painting side of ship with paint rollers on a long stick.
Off to town
Locals
Back on board after cuddling the locals, Kevin found that free Vodaphone wifi on the wharf was available from the window in the coffee lounge on the ship. Website completely updated.
I fascinated in the star effect (see opposite) occurring in some of my camera pictures.
Off on our 4 hour tour at 12:30pm
First stop Laufas Folk Museum and the extensive grass roofs farmhouse.
These may look small, but inside there was room after room, the richer ones lined with timber and the poorer with grass roots
Then a 25 minute cross country dirt road to the Godafoss Falls.
Final stop the Botanical Gardens
Next back home, dinner and Kevin did see a whale as we headed out of the fiord.
Day 61 Wednesday 19th July 2017 Reykjavik , IcelandTop of page
Woke to find a mouse in the bed between us.
Yes the tech nerd left it in the bed.
Easy morning before our 4 hr. 12:30pm excursion
Hard to believe we are on the same island, most of the tour had road lined with moss covered lava flows, green but nowhere as pretty.
Lake Kleifarvatn
Geothermal fields of Krysuvik
This plant supplies the city with hot water through pipelines
Finally, a disappointing Vikingaheimar or Viking World museum with a replica of famous Gokstad Ship but nothing much else.
Back home around 5pm, tonight we decided to have a Pizza for dinner.
We leave port and Iceland at 11pm. Had a great two days here with such a contrast between day 1 and day 2.
The weather has not been any colder than a winter’s day in Sydney and we have missed some light showers.
Below final passenger returns to the ship at 10:30pm in the rain.
Worry about quality of an attraction when carpark is empty
